Although this piece is digital it is not a digital composite because it’s not a collection of disparate images manipulated into one. It was originally a small acrylic painting that I made on paper. I added some fiber paste, more paint, an India Ink drawing with a scratch pen and some ink splatters. The original work is probably 1/4 of an inch thick because of the added paint mediums. I scanned the image, added color digitally as well as some effects from Photoshop including the pixelated blocks at the bottom left and the top right of the picture.
I call it Dissonance because although the color green is often linked with growth and renewal the figure in the picture is divided (by the thin blue line) and the splatters and jagged ink marks give the impression that he is exploding.
